Among the noteworthy accomplishments of the last group of Bantu immigrants was the creation of political states, or perhaps the introduction of centralized systems of presidency. They set up the Maravi Confederacy about 1480. During the 16th century the confederacy encompassed the increased component of what's now central and southern Malawi, and, at the peak of its impact, in here the 17th century, its program of presidency afflicted peoples during the adjacent regions of existing-day Zambia and Mozambique.
